New Organization Cabinet

I did some work for my father this week and came across this little cabinet.  After throwing a tantrum, I was allowed to take it home.  It belonged to a long deceased family member.  He used it in his worklshop to organize his widgets and whatnots.   In fact this it the McKittrick family organizer; a torch has been passed.

Obviously I am going to have the drawers labeled: water bottle cage bolts-Ti, chainring bolt-red anodized, chainring bolts-Campagnolo torx30, brake cable--Nokon-gold, Ferrules-derailleur-purple anodized, Canti brake straddle wire, Valve Extenders--60mm, zip ties...You can imagine the level of geeking out that I am about to engage in.

One of my favorite bike mechanics told me that getting an organizer like this means that I have officially passed into cranky old man status.  I guess that I have to agree.

Does it have a trap door to hide the Vials of CERA when the UCI come a knocking?

It is so complicated that it would be very easy to conceal all of the contraband, including the recalled parts.

Though Zack's skeleton's may not fit.

if your dad has anything similar, of any size. I will pay american dollars for it tomorrow!

I got a library card catalog a while back and now my organization cannot be stopped!

Ignore my deleted comment. Posted under the wrong account.

This goes way beyond my organization; a Park tool box with removable tray. Tray for tools and small bits, bottom for big things. Must be the age thing.

Wow, what a great piece. My guess is that it will turn into the workshop equivalent of the loaves and fishes parable.

You will try to organize it but each search for a bit will turn into a frenzied rummage that will turn up all manners of unexpected treasures. You will have no idea what is in it but you will always find what you need.

Our shop had an old Tyco slot car case that served the same purpose.

A label gun and a rainy afternoon will be the key to organizing this chest.

Was your dad a type-setter or machinist?

I think that this cabinet was used for drill bits and handtools for woodworking.
I am not even sure which great uncle that this belonged to.

great score man! to me it looks as if it could of been a typography lettering drawer set. back in the days of the printing press they would use wooden blocks with brass lettering and they would all be about the same size for consistency's sake. treat her well she's one old lady!

My next tantrum will be for this toolset:

The tantrum will be an exact reproduction of my famous, successful Oreo tantrum in the Lowell Demoulas Market grocery aisle in 1976.

It worked then, so why not now?

What's with your infatuation with stubby/chubby things? (e.g. that tool set and your old phone)

PVB:

Are you implying that I like chubbies?

Also, the clinical word for a shortchubby item is "choad."
